In tricky road conditions around Hagfors and Karlstad, the reigning world champion Sébastien Ogier went off in the first stage of the second day, losing more than 4 minutes in a snowbank while he was leader. Teammate Jari -Matti Latvala made the most of it to take his third win in Sweden almost 54 seconds ahead of fellow VW driver Andreas Mikkelsen. Sweden rally remained a Nordic affaire, as it was in 1950 and 2003, before the advent of Sébastien Loeb’s win, as Ostberg rounded up the podium following an healthy come-back .
